Giving the Gift of Education

November 19, 2020

Scholarships, no matter the size, are crucial to many students at Webster University. On average, 96% of undergraduate students receive financial aid and for many a scholarship is a life-changing gift. Gad Guterman, associate professor and chair of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts, describes scholarships as “absolutely vital”:

“They are the lifeline of our program,” says Guterman. “A scholarship can be the difference in ensuring a talented student comes to Webster. Many Conservatory students are not from St. Louis. Scholarships provide students the opportunity to join us from all over the country and help us to diversify our student population.”

Giving to the Webster Student Scholarship Fund ensures current and future Gorloks have the opportunity to complete their path to graduation. Many students face setbacks that can prevent them from staying on that path. In these circumstances, scholarships are essential in providing students an avenue to finish their studies. Guterman adds: “Even a small scholarship makes a tremendous difference for a student’s trajectory at Webster. A small scholarship often ensures a student remains enrolled, especially in moments of crisis, and eases the burden of financial anxiety that can get in the way of the student’s education.”

"Receiving a scholarship has positively impacted my life."

November 06, 2020

Meet Amina Kopic-Osmanovic, an advertising and marketing and creative writing student who benefited from a scholarship at Webster University.

Like so many Webster students, Amina’s life changed after receiving a scholarship.

“Receiving a scholarship has positively impacted my life,” Amina says. “It lessened the burden of overworking myself just to break even for school as well as letting me focus more directly on my schoolwork and not anxiety over tuition.”

In addition to making college more affordable, scholarships also provide students with global experiences and other learning opportunities.

Amina also shared: “A scholarship has helped me create a fun college experience through studying abroad, which is something I will remember for the rest of my life. I wanted to study abroad, and Webster proved to be a true global school.”

Please donate to the Webster Student Scholarship Fund, which was created to help students like Amina complete her higher education and transform her into a global leader.
